Waves Projectでは、2022年12月22日(木)から12月26日(月)の会期にてピメリコの個展「the weird sisters」を開催いたします。
シェイクスピアのマクベスに登場する3人の魔女は、理性では解釈しがたい矛盾にみちた発言をします。由来をさかのぼるとイギリスの古典のみならず、ギリシャ神話や北欧神話などにも似たような三女神が存在し、過去・現在・未来を司るなど興味深い役割を持っています。
本展は、三女神the weird sitersを作家の日常的な視点から捉え直し、現代社会の混沌をみつめるような映像インスタレーションへ再構成する試みです。
初日の11/22(木)には冬至の特別イベントを18時より隣接するCafe Sampoにて行います。

作家紹介
ピメリコ （Pimeriko）
現代アーティスト。1975年静岡県生まれ、慶應義塾大学環境情報学部卒業。IT企業に勤務したのち2003年に渡英し美術を学ぶ。
2008年ロンドン大学ゴールドスミス・カレッジ ファインアート学部を卒業、2009年にロンドン芸術大学チェルシーカレッジにて修士課程を修了。在学中よりイギリスを中心にヨーロッパや南米などで展覧会に参加。
2009年の帰国後、BankARTのアーティストインレジデンスに参加。2010年にトーキョーワンダーウォール2010 ⽴体部⾨に⼊選、2011年には公募「TWS Emerging」に選ばれ、東京ワンダーサイト本郷で個展を行った。イギリスの⾳楽フェスLatitudeへ3年連続、映像制作コミッションワークにて作品提供。国内外の芸術祭や美術展に参加してきた。現在、神奈川県在住。2022年夏にアーティスト・ラン・スペースWaves Projectを湯河原町にオープンし、ディレクターを務める。

Waves Project is pleased to present ‘the weird sisters’, a solo exhibition by Pimeriko, from Thursday 22 December to Monday 26 December 2022.
The three witches in Shakespeare’s Macbeth make contradictory statements that are difficult to interpret with reason. Their origin can be traced back not only to the British classics, but also to Greek and Norse mythology, where a similar trio of goddesses exist and have interesting roles, such as governing the past, present and future.
This exhibition is an attempt to recapture the weird sitters from the artist’s everyday perspective and reconstruct them into a video installation that looks at the chaos of contemporary society.
A special winter solstice event will be held at the Cafe Sampo from 18:00.
