Waves Projectでは、2024年1月11日(木)から1月22日(月)の会期にてYoko個展『My Tapestry』を開催いたします。
2002-2003年にアルメニア共和国で制作した10メートルのタペストリーとヨーロッパ生活で書き溜めたドローイングを展示します。
LAの美大でファッションを学んだ後、パリ、アントワープ、バルセロナでファッションや革の仕事に携わるかたわら、その枠を越えた表現へと向かったときに生まれたタペストリー作品は、当時住んでいたアントワープとアルメニア共和国を行き来して制作されたものです。制作過程の思考や旅の断片が詰まったドローイングも公開します。
アーティスト・トークでは、作品の内容に加えて制作の過程で出会った人や旅のことについても伺います。

作家プロフィール
17歳で渡米。2000年にOtis College of Art and Design, Fashion(BA) を卒業。その後ヨーロッパへ渡り、パリ、アントワープ、バルセロナでファッションや革の仕事に携わる。
アントワープではベルンハルト・ウィルヘルムに師事しファッションデザインアシスタントを務め、バルセロナではMunoz Vrandecicのアトリエで靴の制作に携わった。帰国後、EATABLE / Eatable of Many Ordersを設立。
Waves Project is pleased to announce Yoko’s solo exhibition “My Tapestry” from January 11 (Thursday) to January 22 (Monday), 2024.
Yoko will exhibit a 10 meter tapestry she made in the Republic of Armenia in 2002-2003 and drawings she made while living in Europe.
After studying fashion at an art college in Los Angeles, she worked in fashion and leather in Paris, Antwerp, and Barcelona. Drawings filled with fragments of her thoughts and travels during the production process will also be on view.
In the artist talk, Yoko will talk about the content of the work as well as the people she met and her travels during the production process.

Artist Profile
Born in Japan. Moved to the U.S. when she was 17. Graduated from Otis College of Art and Design, Fashion (BA) in 2000 and moved to Europe to work in fashion in Antwerp, Paris and Barcelona.
In Antwerp, she worked as a fashion design assistant under Bernhard Wilhelm, and in Barcelona, worked in Munoz Vrandecic’s atelier making shoes. After returning to Japan, she founded EATABLE / Eatable of Many Orders.
