Reico Motohara solo show 2022

Waves Project is pleased to announce Reiko Motohara’s solo exhibition, “un/breakable” from November 19 (Sat) to November 28 (Mon), 2022.
Motohara, who takes a conceptual approach to her work with ceramics as her main medium, has been analyzing the elements of clay as well as the materials that make up the earth. She is interested in the fact that the any human body is composed of the same elements, but that people have diverse ideas even those elements are the same. For that interest, she has been interviewing people at their dining tables in Aichi last year.
In this exhibition, Motohara uses ceramic works molded from her own body parts more than 20 years ago for creating new works from her current perspective. Underlying this work is an eye toward “time that can never be broken off,” and this new installation can be seen as an attempt to unravel her own experiences.

On Saturday, November 26, a talk event “Reiko’s Room” will be held with guest Kosuke Tsuiki (psychoanalyst, professor at the Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University).
