シェイクスピアの戯曲マクベスに登場する3人の魔女the weird sistersに着想を得た映像インスタレーション。本年6月に三島waltzで発表した内容を新たな構成でお見せします。
シェイクスピアのマクベスに登場する3人の魔女は、矛盾にみちた発言や予言によって聞く者の内なる野心をくすぐり翻弄します。
由来をさかのぼるとイギリスの古典のみならず、ギリシャ神話や北欧神話などにも似たような三女神が存在し、過去・現在・未来を司るなど興味深い役割を持っていることが分かります。the weird sistersを作家の日常的な視点から捉え、現代社会の混沌を見つめます。

作家紹介
ピメリコ （Pimeriko）
神奈川県在住のアーティスト。1975年静岡県生まれ、慶應義塾大学環境情報学部卒業。IT企業に勤務したのち2003年に渡英し美術を学ぶ。
イギリスのゴールドスミスカレッジ(BA)およびチェルシーカレッジ(MA)にてファインアートを学ぶ。過去の展示はトーキョーワンダーサイト本郷、ICA Singapore、XYZ Collectiveなど。2010年にトーキョーワンダーウォール2010 ⽴体部⾨⼊選。イギリスの音楽フェスLatitudeへ映像提供。
2022年夏にアーティスト・ラン・スペースWaves Projectを湯河原町にオープンし、ディレクターを務める。

Waves Project is pleased to present ‘the weird sisters w/ Sampo’, a solo exhibition by Pimeriko, from Thursday 3 August to Sunday 20 August 2023.
Pimeriko captures acts of the weird sisters appears in the Shakespear’s Macbeth from the artist’s everyday perspective and reconstruct them into a video installation that reflects the chaos of contemporary society.

Pimeriko will host a pop-up burger shop in collaboration with Cafe Sampo on the opening day.
Special drinks and desserts will be offered by Cafe Sampo to celebrate our 1st year and Cafe Sampo’s 4th year anniversary.

About the Artist
Pimeriko
Born 1975 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, she graduated from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies at Keio University and worked for an IT company before moving to the UK in 2003.
Studied fine art at Goldsmiths College (BA) and Chelsea College (MA) in the UK. Past exhibitions include Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo, ICA Singapore, XYZ Collective. In 2010, she was selected for Tokyo Wonder Wall 2010 in the Interdisciplinary Division.
Provided video pieces for a commission project at the UK music festival Latitude.
In the summer of 2022, she opened the artist-run space Waves Project in the town of Yugawara, where she serve as director.
